Having run a successful IFA practice for many years, Barry recognised the valuable service he could offer in legal matters relating to pensions and divorce. Since selling his IFA practice, he is now able to concentrate solely on providing a professional service to family lawyers and mediators.
Pension Solutions for Lawyers works with lawyers and mediators, supporting their clients individually or on joint instruction. We provide impartial advice to help settle cases and will attend court if necessary.
We have an excellent knowledge of the legal and taxation aspects of finance, enabling us to work effectively with solicitors, accountants and other professionals, providing a comprehensive and thorough service throughout.
In 2000, Barry was approached by a legal training company and was asked to put together a training course for divorce lawyers and family mediators in light of the introduction of Pension Sharing. This was delivered over a number months and locations with great success which led to being asked to lecture at BPP Law School in London. Since then, he has advised on more than 200 cases and has a thorough understanding of the core requirements with respect to pensions and financial matters in divorce.
As a result of the sound advice and professional service he provides, Barry regularly receives referrals from solicitors to provide additional advice on pensions and other financial matters for their clients.
In 2007, Barry attended a Resolution training course that focussed on pensions, divorce and the collaborative process, culminating in achieving an accreditation following an examination. He is one of only 102 people in the UK who hold this qualification and is also part of the Linked In group, where he can refer questions amongst his fellow professionals to obtain views on specific cases.
Barry is also a member and treasurer of Brightpod, the Brighton group of collaborative lawyers.
Barry is the proud father of two children, Jessica and Jasmine. When he is not spending time with his family, he is a keen cyclist and enjoys cycling both on and off road. He also enjoys kayaking on the local rivers and sea, five-a-side football, golf, gardening (which he finds very relaxing when you have a head full of figures!) and walking his dog, Trevor (named by his eldest daughter).
